Week 2-Social Media

Hi guys! This is my first blog...ever, so excuse me if it isn't up to par with the avid bloggers out there. This blog is basically going to to discuss what I learn in IST-195 and how it relates to my entrepreneurial idea. My idea is something that could make everyone's everyday life much simpler. I want to create an app/website that can ease the stress of going to grocery store, making shopping lists, etc.

This will be a website, also accessible via smart phone app, that takes care of your everyday shopping needs. The website and app will be capable of the following:
-viewing grocery store inventory
-creating a shopping list
-calculating costs using store sales, coupons, clearance items
-allowing you to pick your items and place them in an order
-processing your transaction and having your items available for pick up when you arrive at the store

All in all I want this website and app to be an automated and efficient grocery shopping process, where everything is done with the touch of a finger. This will make shopping painless, stress free, and instantaneous.

This website and app would work very well with all the social media networks out there. Not only could I use social media such as Twitter and Facebook to promote this product, but once the program is up and running, I could use YouTube to show a tutorial on how to use the app. I could even eventually use social networking sites as a way of accessing friends' or family members' grocery lists/needs; making this already useful app even more efficient. Social media would be a huge asset to the success of this product.

  1. Really cool app idea. I think that you should potentially look into seeing if there would be a way to integrate with the major grocery store chains for deals and inventory/selection. I know there is nothing worse than going to the store and finding that they are out of the one ingredient that I am looking for. Furthermore, it is always frustrating when i come home and realize that i forgot one key ingredient.

  2. This seems like a really cool idea! Have you decided if this app will go international? I know for a fact that customers and stores world wide would love and appreciate this application. It would make the trip to the supermarket a whole lot easier and less frustrating! Also, would this app be only for certain super markets like Stop and Shop or Shop rite? Or would it expand to all the supermarket chains?

  3. Your site looks tasty. This could help a lot home ridden people who can't go to the supermarket.

  4. I think this is a really good idea, not only for the purpose of making it easier for the average shopper, but also for handicapped people. Having the ability to process your transaction and have your items available for you when you get to the store is really convenient, that way people don't need to navigate through aisles and wait in line if they are handicapped or even if they get injured. Great idea!

  5. This sounds like a really helpful idea! I come from a family of seven and it was always a big discussion when one of my parents went to the grocery store because they would ask all 5 of us kids what we wanted. Big mistake. It could take up to an hour making a shopping list. I think having an app like this could really help families like mine that need it to be as stress-less and easy as possible. Plus, then my parents could communicate while one of them is at the store and the other is at home, such as if we forgot to add something (which usually always happened). For example, Mom could add something online from home and my dad would see it while he's at the store and could get it. Great idea! Good luck and have fun with it!
